Emporia State University Theatre kicks off the spring season with “Steel Magnolias” by Robert Harling. This production is under the direction of Theresa Mitchell, who retires this spring after 20 years with the Department of Communication and Theatre.

Emporia State University Theatre returned from their trip to the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival 51 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota Saturday afternoon Jan. 26 after a busy week of auditions, competitions, showcases and performances. They also brought back a number of awards and commendations.

Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol is Wednesday, Feb. 20, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Six undergraduate researchers from Emporia State University will get the chance to present their work on the first-floor rotunda of the State Capitol in Topeka.

Sodexo, the food-service contract holder with Emporia State University, will begin construction on a new fully licensed Starbucks store in the Memorial Union this spring with plans for a grand opening by the end of 2019.

Four members of the faculty and staff at Emporia State University received awards on Jan. 9, 2019, for their work within The Teachers College.
