Paintings Being Auctioned to Support Scholarship Fund
Three paintings by former Emporia State professor Rex Hall are being auctioned to support the Rex and Ann Hall Family Art Scholarship at the ESU Foundation. The auction began May 29 and closes June 19.
Summer Theatre Opens 65th Season with Gurney’s Charming Memory Play
Emporia State’s Summer Theatre program celebrates its 65th birthday this season. The program was begun in 1955 by Karl C. Bruder and is the longest running summer stock theatre on the Great Plains. Season 65 begins with “What I Did Last Summer,” a charming memory play from A.R. Gurney, the author of “The Dining Room,” “Love Letters” and “Family Furniture.” Each has been performed on ESU stages in previous seasons.
The Teachers College Earns CAEP Accreditation
The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation recently announced The Teachers College at Emporia State University is one of 42 providers from 23 states and the District of Columbia to receive accreditation for its educator preparation programs.

Emporia State University will present 2019 University Service Citation Awards to four Kansans this month during the annual Emporia State Theatre Guild Dinner on June 12, and the Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on June 22.

Like any major construction project, Emporia State’s plan to demolish two pieces of the Morse Hall complex and renovate Abigail Morse Hall involves some heavy lifting. The early prep work is designed to reduce waste in the landfill and help area nonprofit agencies.
