Emporia State students will learn from experts when the 2017 Kansas Teacher of the Year team visits campus on Thursday, Feb. 2.
Emporia State Theatre had excellent representation at last week’s regional festival of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF). Four faculty members and 21 students traveled to Des Moines, Iowa, for the event. ESU is in Region 5 of KCACTF which includes colleges and universities from Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota and Minnesota.
Like most universities, ESU is a community of individuals from around the world studying and researching together. We are exploring how the university can support members of Hornet Nation who are from these countries. They are worried about their friends and family members, the impact on their ability to travel and the uncertainty of their futures.
The Kansas Business Hall of Fame invites Lyon County high school students to submit essays in its first student essay contest, themed “Kansas Entrepreneurs.”
Parking lots west of Science Hall and Cremer are closed; drop-off and pick-up of children to Center for Early Childhood Education are detoured.
Educators are being offered opportunities to increase their skill and knowledge through workshops and conferences provided this spring through The Teachers College at Emporia State University. Some events offered have graduate credit available.
Dr. Dennis J. Kear has been named the executive director of the Kansas Masonic Literacy Center. Kear, an alumnus of Emporia State, formerly served as dean of the college of education at Missouri State University.
Paul Edwards, creator of Emporia State’s Corky the Hornet, celebrated his 102nd birthday on January 12. He earned a shout-out from NBC’s Today Show. The photo shows Paul and his son, David.
January was a month of celebration for graduates of the School of Library and Information Management in Colorado and Utah.
