Coaching Minor Required Coursework
Program of Study
This non-teaching minor consists of a minimum of 15 hours. If you choose this minor, you should consult with the chair of the department for the assignment of an advisor no later than the second semester of the your sophomore year. The advisor will work with the student to develop a contract for this minor program.

The coaching education minor requires a total of 18 credit hours: 12 required courses and two additional three credit hour courses.
Required Courses (12 hrs):
- PE 305 Theory of Coaching (Spring Only) (3 hrs)
- PE 320 Principles of Strength and Conditioning (2 hrs)
- PE 345 Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries (3 hrs)
- PE 420 Psychology of Sport (Fall Only) (2 hrs)
- PE 540 Coaching Education Practicum (2 hrs)
Select two from the following fundamentals of coaching classes (6 hrs):
- PE 350 Fundamentals & Coaching of Baseball (3 hrs)
- PE 351 Fundamentals & Coaching of Basketball (3 hrs)
- PE 352 Fundamentals & Coaching of Football (3 hrs)
- PE 354 Fundamentals & Coaching of Track (3 hrs)
- PE 355 Fundamentals & Coaching of Volleyball (3 hrs)
- PE 356 Fundamentals & Coaching of Softball (3 hrs)
- PE 357 Fundamentals & Coaching of Soccer (3 hrs)
- PE 358 Fundamentals & Coaching of Tennis / Golf (3 hrs)
