Do more with your degree
Pre-Medical Technology
Students interested in careers in medical technology or clinical laboratory science are advised to pursue the Bachelor of Science in Biology with a concentration in Microbial and Cellular Biology or Healthcare. Any Bachelors degree will suffice for admission. After completing the requirements for this degree the student must apply for admission to an AMA accredited School for clinical training. If the clinical training is obtained from a degree granting institution, a second Bachelor’s degree may be awarded by that institution. Students interested in this program should discuss opportunities and requirements with the Pre-Medical Technology advisor, Department of Biological Sciences.

Why ESU?
Our professors don’t want you to be a passive learner in the biology program, but an active participant in study and research in your field of interest. With smaller class sizes in your major, you’ll have the opportunity to do original research of your own choosing or work with professors on ongoing projects.

Cool classes
Emporia State students get involved from the very beginning. In 2018, a freshman biology course worked on a semester-long research project about microplastics that was accepted for publication in a national journal. ESU has the only on-campus aquatic research facility in the state of Kansas, where you’ll take classes and study in the field.
