Nyk Robertson is a dedicated Senior Diversity Officer, interdisciplinarian, poet, activist, and parent; they are passionate in their work around fostering intergroup dialogue and exploring the complexities of power and identity. With a career rooted in advocating for inclusivity, Robertson has focused on creating spaces where diverse voices can be heard and respected.

As an alum of ESU's English department and a poet, much of Robertson's work and research are centered in story-telling and the power of stories. Their current research focuses on deliberate critical dialogue, connection, the power of poetry, and student activism. They bring this research to the work they do as the Senior Diversity Officer at ESU.

"I feel privileged to be able to be back at ESU doing the work I do. This institution has had a significant impact on my life and my work. I am honored to be able to give back and be a part of changing our institution to better serve our changing campus community," Robertson said.

They enter their work through a lens that centers humanity and a pedagogy of hope. Every day they strive to be kind, authentic, and to act with integrity.

They have a twin sister and are a parent to twins.
Their favorite holiday is Valentine's Day.
Their favorite program is Excel.
They were president of their chess club in high school.

Education:

PhD in Counseling and Student Development from K-State.
MA in Gender and Culture Studies from Simmons University.
BA in English from Emporia State University.
